Rey del Mundo cigars brand was developed in 1848 under supervision of Spaniard Antonio Allones. Only four decades later, in 1882, the brand was registered as a cigar brand of premium quality and price, becoming one of the great Havana cigars brand. Having an extravagant name El Rey del Mundo (which means "King of the World"), the brand became shortly well known for its dark and oily wrappers and was one of the most expensive Havanas available in the middle of the 20th century. Shortly after Rey del Mundo cigars became successful, the factory was named after the mark, El Rey del Mundo Cigar Co. Even nowadays this cigar brand is still produced by the factory with the same name.
